With her trademark red lipstick, big smile and vibrant personality, Sally is the friendly, welcoming salon owner at Headroom Hair. With over 30 years of industry experience, Sally is a master stylist who happily shares her knowledge and expertise on style and maintenance, and she delivers a fabulous haircut you’ll love.
Driven to create a fantastic workplace with an awesome team culture, Sally created Headroom Hair in 2000. She loves working with such fabulous women and is known for supporting, training and empowering staff to achieve their career goals. Sally is always there for our close-knit team.
Abbie Watson-Taylor
2IC at Headroom Hair
Abbie is a wonderful, bright shining light of joy who lifts everyone’s spirits. Abbie has been Sally's right hand woman for over 10 years and a vital part of Headroom Hair.
From welcoming clients into the salon and ensuring we consistently deliver the best possible customer experience; Abbie does it all. She is always taking care of things and making sure highest level of quality and excellence is consistently delivered throughout the business.
With comprehensive industry experience, Abbie has extensive knowledge in all aspects of hairdressing and salon management. Abbie is passionate about the industry and future of the hairdressing industry. She is always keeping up with industry leaders to ensure the future of hairdressing is sustainable for the next generation of hairdressers.
Abbie is someone our team can rely on. She takes the younger stylists under her wing and nurtures them to achieve their goals. Ebony
Senior Stylist & Salon Manager at River Street Salon
With extensive industry experience, Ebony is our manager at the River Street salon, and has been with Headroom Hair since 2015. She loves the friendship and banter our team enjoys, and the welcome we extend to all our valued clients.
Ebony specialises in balayage and lived in blondes, and she has a huge following and reputation for being a fantastic balayage stylist. She’s also awesome at cutting curly hair, loves to create bright, fun hair and enjoys the challenge of big hair transformations. Ebony says there’s always a place in her chair for her fellow LGBTQIA+ community, where people feel safe and seen.
She loves the creative satisfaction of doing a hair makeover that leaves her clients smiling and full of confidence.
Abbey Hutley
Senior Stylist & Salon Manager at East Ballina Salon
As our East Ballina salon manager, Abbey loves seeing all our beautiful clients enter the salon with such excitement for their hair transformation, before they walk out looking and feeling fabulous. Abbey started her hairdressing career at Headroom in 2014 and has been the salon manager for several years. Driven to create beautiful hair, she loves styling wedding and event hair, styled blow dries and hair makeovers. She also does beautiful work with long hair and is one of our resident Kerasilk Keratin smoothing treatment specialists.
Abbey also enjoys working with the younger girls to help them learn new skills and improving while developing their hairdressing career.
Tarnie Hillyard
Senior Stylist & Salon Manager at Lennox Head Salon
Tarnie is the manager at our Lennox Head salon and has been at Headroom since 2016. She loves creating blended blondes, lived in looks, cutting all hair types and lengths, but especially curls and waves, and creating big texture through cutting and styling.
Her role includes hair colouring, cutting, managing the salon – organising staff, training juniors/apprentices and social media.
Tarnie loves having full creative freedom. She enjoys creating dream hair for her clients and seeing the smiles on their faces at the end of the process.

Ali
Receptionist/Front of House & Salon Assistant – River Street
As our Receptionist/Director of First Impressions, Ali is the smiling face on the front counter and phone. She is a human form of sunshine, is always happy and smiling, and nothing is ever too much to ask. With her kind, warm and welcoming nature, Ali assists our valued clients, carries out reception duties, organises the salon and takes care of stock control for our products.
Ali loves the hairdressing industry, and our busy salon environment at Headroom Hair, where she’s worked since 2014.
Amber
Senior Stylist – Lennox Head & River Street
After a 7-year stint working in award-winning Brisbane salons, Amber returned to Headroom Hair in 2020. An experienced stylist who started hairdressing in 2010, Amber loves education and is always looking to take her skills to the next level. While she specialises in all areas of hairdressing, she loves cutting, especially short women’s cuts.
Amber is a self-confessed perfectionist and will always go above and beyond for all her clients, ensuring they leave the salon in love with their hair.
Anne
Senior Stylist – East Ballina & River Street
As a senior stylist with over 20 years’ experience, Anne has a particular passion for creating just the right blonde for her clients, from lived in blondes to glossy beach waves. She is very passionate about achieving your hair goals.
Anne’s favourite part about being a hairdresser is watching her client’s face light up at the end of service. Anne strives to exceed clients’ expectations and loves to give the best salon experience possible, ensuring everyone leaves feeling refreshed and confident thanks to their new hairstyle.
Anne joined the team in 2023 and loves working in a busy, fun salon and being part of the Headroom family.
Brodie
Senior Stylist – Lennox Head
Brodie is dedicated to helping you achieve your dream hair and specialises in creating lived in blondes, warm/bright blondes and cutting hair. She has the training and expertise to guide her clients in the right direction to keep their hair healthy and help them reach their hair goals.
The thing Brodie loves most about being a hairdresser if making her client’s hair dreams come alive as they watch, and seeing their faces light up at the end of the service. It’s so rewarding!
Carla
Master Stylist & Apprentice Educator – River Street
As a very experienced stylist, Carla joined the Headroom team in 2018, and has excelled as our trusted apprentice trainer. She enjoys delivering weekly training with our apprentice hairstylists and it fills her heart to witness our girls grow and bloom.
Carla builds trust with her clients, helping them achieve their hair goals and delivering manageable styles. She is an expert with fine hair, a strong believer in hair health and treatments, and she loves a clean, shiny, healthy blonde.
She truly enjoys working with our Headroom Hair family and she loves that hairstyling is such a creative outlet.
Gypsy
Emerging Stylist – River Street, East Ballina & Lennox Head
Gypsy is a very driven young stylist who has always shown her passion in every client she assists. She enjoys getting to know people from all walks of life and working with fun, open clients. Making use of her growing skills, Gypsy loves spending to deliver the hair of her client’s dreams. She loves all the trending styles, especially big, highly styled, beautiful hair.
As our social media queen, Gypsy loves getting the perfect shot at the end of the appointment. She started at Headroom in 2018 and has since become a valued team member.
Kayla
Senior Stylist – East Ballina & River Street
As an experienced stylist, Kayla likes to help her clients achieve natural looking, lived in colours that are easy to maintain at home. She has been hairdressing since 2010 and joined Headroom in 2018.
Kayla is a fabulous short hair stylist and is one of our Kerasilk Keratin smoothing treatment specialists. She loves seeing clients smiling and feeling amazing after they have their hair done.
Kayla enjoys a chat with our clients, helping them feel at ease. She loves working with her beautiful friends at Headroom, and she enjoys the ongoing education the team receive.
Megan
Senior Stylist – East Ballina & River Street
As a highly experienced all-rounder, Megan specialises in lived in balayage, flattering bobs and seamless long hairstyles - she is a long hair expert. Since starting in the industry in 2007, she has developed a keen eye for detail in all aspects of her work. Megan is very professional, and you see that shine through when she creates gorgeous hair.
Megan enjoys working with her amazing colleagues and that she gets to create art every day. She says there’s nothing more satisfying than creating a vision – and nailing it! She also enjoys making great connections with her clients while helping them achieve realistic hair goals.
Sarah
Master Stylist – River Street, East Ballina & Lennox Head
Sarah’s Headroom Hair connection runs deep, having completed her hairdressing apprenticeship with us many years ago. She’s since gained invaluable experience in the Australian film and television industry and worked alongside industry-leading hairdressers on photo shoots and Fashion Week.
As a master hair artist, Sarah is known for her classic fine foiling, seamless balayage and confident cutting skills on all hair types, including curly hair. Sarah is a creative hairdresser who understands suitability and individuality and prides herself on maintaining high standards and perfect execution. She always strives to stay on top of hair trends as she continues to grow and excel in her craft, sharing what she learns along the way.

Tanya
MASTER Stylist – East Ballina & River Street
Tanya believes in the magic and power of a hairstyle to complete change a client’s look and confidence. She loves having the ability to put a smile on her client’s face, connecting with them beyond just hair – it’s what made her fall in love with hairdressing many years ago! She loves doing classic colours and cut, especially a Vidal Sassoon bob cut. She always keeps the hair’s ability, integrity and the client’s lifestyle in mind when delivering the client’s vision.
Tanya has worked alongside and been represented by June Dally-Watkins, Chadwick Modelling agency and worked for a number of high-end Sydney salons in the past. Her love for hairdressing has continued to grow since joining the Headroom team, and she considers herself incredibly fortunate to be a member of the Headroom family.
Holly
Junior Stylist
Holly is currently undertaking a 3-year hairdressing apprenticeship, including studies at Wollongbar TAFE and all the in-salon education we provide. We enjoy supporting our apprentices as they commence their career.
Alarna
Junior Stylist
Alarna is an apprentice hairdresser who is studying via Wollongbar TAFE in addition to the in-salon training we provide here at Headroom Hair. We look forward to supporting Alarna as she pursues her career in hairdressing.
