To assist you with enquiries you may have about the hairdressing services and products we offer, we’ve compiled the following list of frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t answered below, please feel free to call us on 0266 863 111.

How can I make an appointment?


We’re happy to take your phone call or for you to book online.

When you’re booking online, it can sometimes be tricky choosing the right process and time allocation – please call and ask us if you’re unsure.

What do these logos mean?

Can I cancel my hair appointment?


We totally understand that the best laid plans can come undone.

Yes, you can cancel your appointment, but you must do so at least 24 hours ahead of your appointment time. Please feel free to call the salon to reschedule your appointment time up 24 hours prior before your booking. Your deposit will be transferred to your next appointment.

However, if you don't show up for your scheduled appointment time or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, your deposit is non-refundable.

Sickness Policy


If you are unwell or have symptoms of cold, flu or COVID, we respectfully ask you to reschedule your appointment. We appreciate your understanding, as this helps keep us all well and healthy in the salon.

Can I bring extra people or children to my appointment?


At Headroom Hair, we strive to provide a peaceful environment for all our guests, and most importantly, we are mindful of the safety of your children in the salon. For this reason, we no longer allow extra guests or children to attend your appointment, unless they also have an appointment with us.

What’s your refund policy for Headroom hair services?


We don’t issue refunds on salon services. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our salon directly within 1 week of your visit. If you’re not satisfied with the services provided or work performed, we require you to come back into the salon, so we can see your hair and make adjustments to ensure your satisfaction. Adjustments are done at no cost if they are considered reasonable and made within the required 1-week period after the initial service.

What’s your refund policy for haircare products?


We don’t provide refunds on home haircare products or electrical items if you change your mind.

Can I use AfterPay?


For the convenience of our valued clients, AfterPay is available in all three of our salons. Minimum spend per transaction = $200.

Will my haircut be cheaper if I don’t want a shampoo or blow dry?


No, it won’t be cheaper. We pride ourselves on our work and therefore all our haircut prices are inclusive of a shampoo, conditioning, massage and blow dry. Why? Because you’ll leave looking amazing, and it’s crucial that we check your haircut when it’s dry and make any adjustments.

What’s the best way to prepare for my appointment at Headroom Hair?


  • Block out sufficient time in your calendar for the service you are receiving. Some services require more time than others. Check the time required when you make your booking.
  •  Please check salon parking arrangements prior to arrival. Each salon location (River St, Ballina, East Ballina, Lennox Head) shows parking arrangements. 
  •  As hairstylists are visual in nature, we also recommend you bring along any inspiration photos you have! That way we can have a better vision of the look you are wanting to achieve.
  •  Having a colour? Please ensure your hair is clean, ideally washed 1-2 days prior to your appointment.
  •  Having a haircut or blow dry? We will wash your hair for you on the day

What do I need to know about Headroom’s time management?


We pride ourselves on running on time and do everything in our power to maintain strong time management in our salons. Clients turning up for their appointments on time helps keep us on track. Sometimes we run late because of human error. We will always contact you if we’re running late via SMS or a phone call. If you’re running late, please call us and let us know.

Because our schedule is often fully booked, starting your appointment later affects all the other scheduled appointments after yours. It's also challenging to fit everything into the shortened appointment time to achieve your hair goals and give you the complete service. We love it when our clients arrive on time and sincerely appreciate your co-operation in helping our days run smoothly.

What is the Goldwell Kerasilk Keratin smoothing treatment?


Want smooth, flowing hair that’s easier to manage and style? For those with unruly, frizzy hair that’s hard to manage, a Goldwell Kerasilk Keratin Treatment Service transforms your hair into perfectly smooth, shiny and more manageable hair. This treatment can last for up to 3-5 months.

Goldwell Kerasilk treatment is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, irritation-free and is a 100% formaldehyde-free solution. This semi-permanent treatment is designed to repair the hair from within and safeguard your hair’s health.

How is Goldwell Kerasilk Keratin smoothing different from other hair straightening treatments?


The Goldwell Kerasilk Keratin smoothing treatment is much gentler on your hair than other hair straightening treatments/relaxers.

Traditional hair relaxing treatments use damaging ammonium thioglycolate and sodium hydroxide, and will permanently straighten your hair by breaking down the molecular bonds in the hair, which is very damaging.

The Goldwell Kerasilk treatment is much gentler on your hair, meaning your hair maintains a softer, healthier look and feel.
